Art & Flea

So since this blog is supposed to be a recollection of memories as I enter the wonderful world of jewelry making, i think it's only fitting I share with you, oh, just about the biggest thing to happen to me yet along this road.  Ladies and Gents, I did my first EVENT!!! YAAAHOOOO!  all i can say is that it was a whirlwind of emotions for me: nerves, excitement, scared, EXHILERATED, high as a kite, and pure bliss, just to name a few.  I've been making jewelry for a few months now, not exactly a while.  But, to me, jewelry making just came so naturally and it feels like something i've been doing forever.  I feel like putting pieces together is something that i'm really good at..( not to brag or anything, hahaha) but no, really, I've always loved creating things!  But i never thought i was exceptionally good at anything.  I mean i love to draw, paint, do ceramics, take pictures, all that jazz, but i'm not extremely good at any of those. i just enjoy them.  So for the first time, i feel like i've found my "forte", my calling, perhaps...hmmm... anywho back to my event.  I had been preparing tons of goodies for this day, and when the time came to set up my booth, I was soooo excited!  everything looked so cute, and i have never been so proud of myself!  It just felt great, accomplishing something i've wanted soooo badly!  And the response i got was SO great!  Tons of women were telling me how beautiful and affordable my stuff is.  People were asking me where they can find my stuff and what events i'll be at next!  It felt so good to hear someone, who i didn't know, tell me they loved my stuff.  For some reason it just makes it feel so real, that i'm really good at it, and my friends aren't just being nice lol.  Well anywho here are some pics of my jewelry show and some of the newer goodies that i sold there!  I sold all of my earrings and BFF friendship bracelets!! So i've been hard at work making new ones!

I have sooooo much new jewelry!  And i'm dying to take more photos!  I promise once finals are over i'll have a post of all my new stuff! OHH and pictures from Decembers Art & Flea that i'll be doing in a week!!!

in a daze

ok so im basically a huge nerd...

I LOVE LOVE LOVE finding cute little quotes and creative pictures that inspire me...I'm one of those pansies that ball my eyes out in the lovey dovey corny scenes in movies, or at quotes, or moments in life.  Its weird I seriously think one of my passions in life is Love and everything about love.  It doesn't even have to do with me.  I could cry when I see other people (who I don't even know) laughing with a loved one or their baby.  It fills me up with happiness to see others so truly happy.  Maybe its because I'm a hopeless romantic that still believes in a little magic.  And i think everyone could use a little magic in their life.  Here are some cute little things i've found that make me smile

  One more thing I'd like to say is..how can a 20 year old decide on what they should be doing for the rest of their life. No offense but the "me" right now is very different from the "me" i'll be when I'm 40.  I think its perfectly ok not to be sure of the Perfect career for me.  I have faith in myself that I will figure it out.  And along the way I'll learn so much more about myself

busy bee

So this past weekend was a very eventful and busy one!  I absolutely love having four day weekends every week.  BUT, I think this is negatively preparing me for a life of work...i love it so much that i just know it will be down right impossible for me to give up in 2 years....grrrrrr

anywho this past week i finally put up some of the lanterns I ordered and I put up so things I had in my old apartment..I'm still waiting for my jewelry organizer to come in, then I can put that up along with the picture magnet thing...I also have this Idea to make a big poster that says INSPIRE and I'm gonna but pictures, quotes, or whatever kinds of things inspire me on this...I think it'll help me stay on track to my goals of jewelry designing and just life goals as well!  Here's a pic of my newly decorated bed...

Also some exciting news! I sold my first 2 pieces of jewelry this week!  China bought a necklace for $30, then a few days later Emily bought a pair of earrings for $20...I was so stoked!  I made $50 on only 2 items!! And as I post pictures on facebook I've gotten a lot of fans of my jewelry...Lots of people have been asking me to purchase them and I'm getting very excited and motivated to make more!!  Here's a pic of my very first customer EVER with her one of a kind necklace made by MUAH!

Also I was feeling inspired so I made a new set of earrings which were difficult at first...took me a few hours...but I finally think I got it right...I don't settle for anything but perfect pieces in my eyes..

I bought some new supplies for soldering today and hopefully i can get the rest of my necessary tools on thursday, then I will be right to work this weekend on creating!! Go ME!

i am having a hard time settling on a name for my up and coming jewelry company...I do like Mermaid Treasures but im not sure if its THEEE one...i made a logo for my newest idea:

What are your thoughts??? At first i was thinking The Sea & I, but the sea and me sounded better and looked better...I'm still open to ideas so send them my way!  Also here are some pictures of my newest creations

I've realized how happy collecting shells and creating jewelry makes me...Its probably one of the best feelings I can describe.  Finding something that your so passionate about and you just plain love doing, its really just bliss!  I'll be at home making jewelry and before I know it 5 hours have passed by and its 11 at night and i worked right through dinner and didn't even notice...hahaha and i'm not exaggerating about any of that, i've done it a few times already!!

and so it begins

exciting news...With the help of Cherie I thought of a brilliant name for my jewelry company!!! It's going to be called Mermaid Treasures by Satchie..I have somewhat of a logo tooo:

 

I needed to do something with the beach or something because mostly all of my jewelry has seashells,  glass, or coral incorporated in the design.  I kinda like thinking of myself as somewhat of a mermaid.  When I was younger and would swim at the beach, i'd always pretend to be Ariel from The Little Mermiad and swim just how she did.  Some exciting things have happened for me this past weekend!  First of all I took a beachy bangles class and learned how to make these awesome sterling silver bangles!  I'll have to post pictures!! And yesterday Christian took Nate and I to this secret spot where we got the LOAD of SHELLS...And i mean the load  I was grabbing cone shells by the handful!! And if you know anything about collecting shells, perfect unharmed cone shells are SOOO rare to find!! I couldn't be more stoked!  It was like Christmas for me...I Cannot WAIT to make some treasures with my new SHELLS!!

MESS

I was doing my homework the other night and took a second to just look up and i noticed how seriously disgustingly messy i am.  AHhahah i thought it was funny though, so i took a picture of it.  Its hard to stay organized when i feel like there is so much going on in my life and i'm just all over the place!  Any who its the weekend now and that'll give me some time to clean and get organized...hopefully my urban outfitters goodies are coming in soon and i can start decorating...oh and also i'm on the prowl for a good old cheap desk that i can paint!!

bedroom dreams

sooo a few of my favorite things to do while i'm procrastinating just so happen to mix Exxxtra well today.  I love looking at blogs and websites about interior design and i also love looking at urban outfitters.  Recently i've been feeling cramped in my room at home.  I loved so much having my own space and freedom to do what I wanted at my apartment, but now i feel stuck in my new room.  So with a little inspiration from some online sources, i bought a few gems for my room! my plan is to buy a old desk at either salvation armani or a garage sale then paint it a pretty turquise bluish color...I'm excited!! there was so much I wanted to buy on urban outfitters but I just couldn't see spending all that money! So i settled for these items..

I can't wait for them to come in!! The first picture is of a jewelry holder/wall art=) I'm particularly excited for this one, as I have a ton of jewelry i've been making to organize and display.  Then the next picture is this cool magnetic string with magnets that can hold pictures, postcards, letters, and more!! And I bought 4 of the lanterns shown which I really love.  I like the wire on the outside, I think it looks really vintage and cool.  Then lastly i just had to have the lime green magazine and book holder to go beside my bed.  Oh and This picture : 

is one I found on a photographers website of "lifestyle" pictures.  This is of a cute little apartment in New York and its exactly the look i'm going for.  If you look closely you can see lots of cute little details to the room which I love: the desk, vintage looking tray to hold hair products and other stuff, mirror against the wall, comfy bed..and more...Can't wait to get all my stuff!

falling (more like tripping) into fall

even though it still may look like summer, smell like summer, and taste like summer, in hawaii...it SUREEEe does not feel like summer at ALL...

ever since school has begun i have slowly felt any trace of "a life" i might have had fly away...starting tuesday morning at 6am i wake up to sit in traffic for an hour and a half and make it juuust on time (if i'm lucky) to UH...then i get to sit in three hour classes for 10 hours straight...with just about 15 minute breaks in between...(i know its so awesome, RIGHT!?) but wait it gets better...the next morning i get to wake up at the same time...but here is where it gets good...i get to drive for an hour to Waianae! where i go to an elementary school from 8am to 240 then i get to go straight to another three hour class at LCC! Then i do that all over again the next day!! WOOOOOO however, there is somewhat of an upside...i have a four day weekend every weekend...BUT the catch is that i spend two of those days/nights working...and the rest leaves me barely enough time to study/do homework...and every now and then i can squeeze in some time for...whats that called again?? OH ya!  A LIFE...hehehe its not quite as bad as im making it sound....ok, maybe it is...HAHAHA just kidding..the classes that im taking are all about being a teacher so its not like its boring to me..i love it..and i really like (beginning to love) my student teaching/observing...SOOO now that i've caught you up on my "life"...if i haven't lost you yet..now i'll go on to talk about some of the fun things i've been doing here and there...haha

sooo the first pics are from my trip to disneyland with the family last week...it was tons of fun, but four days with cranky sick family members and 3 babies was more than enough time to teach me i don't want to have kids for a WHHHIIIILLLEEE...hahah but it was a fun trip and i also go to spend some time with Maika and Keri..which was tons of fun...when i got home my awesome boyfriend surprised me with a fisheye lens he had bought for my nikon camera at amazon.com...i was SOOO happy!! its super sick and takes cool pictures as you can see...the last picture ( cherie you'll like this) is of a camera i got when i went on my hour shopping spree at urban outfitters when Maika and keri took me to the Spectrum in Irvine...It's super cool and takes sequence shots..i can't wait to use it and try out the cool film I bought tooo!! Oh and on a closing note I made two pairs of earrings today and a necklace which are the sickest yet i think...its night time now so i'll wait til tomorrow to take pictures then hopefully i can post them soon...See what happens when I don't post frequently enough, i go way overboard!! so i'll just stop. right. now. ciao...hehe that rhymed

About Time

So this past month i'd say has been probably the busiest for me in years...before i go on explaining here are some pictures of my jewelry i have made!!!!

I'm so excited for this new found hobby of mine!!  I've signed up for 4 new classes this month all of which i'll be soldering and working with metal.  I'm beyond excited and can't wait to make more cool stuff.  Hopefully by winter i'll be selling my stuff in boutiques or at craft fairs or both!!
